After church service at TCN Ikeja (Marriott at the time) in my ripped jeans, black tee, and cornrows (in my mind the simplest look ever), here comes awon church brother walking towards me. My mind: oh my goodness, why can't I just be a church member in peace? Next thing I hear, "is this your first time?" Yes. "We'd love you to join our Single's fellowship." Ugh, all these pre-marriage groups, I'm not interested, I wanna be young & free. He got my number, I landed in the group chat, and he assigned himself as my 'onboarding buddy'. After figuring out I was a stone, he let me be in peace.

Then one random Sunday, Tobi walks up to Banke and I after service. It was his last Sunday, and he was traveling for his MBA in the US. That got the attention of the sapio in me! Anything academics & intellectual doings has my full attention.

Two weeks later, in a moment of suspended hard guy, I sent (allegedly) "I miss your face around here". Hmmm, let's just say I've not heard the last of that message and I probably never will. That first check-in has now become forever when I realized I'd found someone who could manage and entertain my unending shenanigans. The rest is now history. Let's get this forever journey started already.

It was 2022. I was greeting first timers after service, like I would normally do and right in my front was this damsel. She was in a black top, black ripped jean and her all-back hair. She had this I-don't-like-church-boys look. But there I was responding in my mind: who wan toast you before 😒😅. We kept our distance (or so I thought) and everybody faced front, even though I will get home on Sundays with my gallery full of pictures of random church members (including hers). Then I relocated, only for our beloved sister who doesn't like church boys to send a message - "Let me drop my hard guy cap and say I missed your presence in church yesterday" - after a few months. I'm like really? Anyways, that was the beginning of our friendship. She became a solid support system in the years after. She came to understand the person that I was very quickly.

Fast forward to some several months ago, I decided to do what grown men do - asked her out. She said yes. This January, I popped the 'marry me' question and she said yes again. That's how I found favour from the Lord o, my people.
